There’s nothing we love more than a good love story – and this one involves Kelly Clarkson and a multi-state romance – so you know it’s going to be good. Couple that with the fact that Bria told us that one of the most important parts of planning their wedding were the flowers and we’re sitting here absolutely speechless with our jaws dropped over this big day. Keep reading to find out their best advice about planning, why they loved choosing New Braunfels as their wedding destination, and see how an IV (and Chick-fil-A) played a role on their wedding day.

The Love Story

Sheldon and I met during the holidays in 2014, so that time of year is always special to us.  My good friend Shannon invited me to be her date to her company Christmas party because her now husband was unable to go, and Kelly Clarkson was the entertainment, so of course I was going!  There was a party bus that night after some of the Christmas parties with a lot of people our age and Sheldon and I were both on that party bus.  Our first encounter was him opening my Jack Daniels bottle for me, and we had a ball that night. In the week following that, Shannon told me Sheldon was a nice guy but he didn’t ever ask girls on dates, so I was bummed about that. A few weeks later though, turns out things were different and Sheldon and I went on our first date. Six years later, and a few more party bus rides, we finally got married!

Why They Chose The Chandelier

We looked at a ton of venues and we knew after going to The Chandelier it was the one!  Sheldon is from the area around The Chandelier and I am from Oklahoma City, so we knew we wanted somewhere centrally located for his family and a fun destination for mine.  The Chandelier was just that and so much more!  The venue is beautiful and has everything you can want, and it is so close to downtown Gruene and New Braunfels which has so much to offer for out of town guests.  We are so happy with our decision and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Memorable Moments

Honestly, everything went so smoothly that I loved it all and all of the memories are so special!!  I will say I was a little ill the morning of the wedding and my bridesmaids called in an IV company to hook me up to some liquids to get me feeling better.  So, there I was eating Chik-fil-A, hooked up to an IV, and getting my hair and makeup done on the big day.  Something I will never forget, the photos are just priceless.

Their Best Advice

If I could do it again, the only thing I would have done differently is hire a full wedding planner, instead of just a day of (don’t get me wrong, Melissa at All in the Details was AMAZING and our day went perfectly, but I wish I had hired her for more)!  People told me to do it, and I was like “Oh I’m so organized I can totally do this”, and I wasn’t completely right.  It isn’t that it isn’t do-able, it is just in those precious months leading up to the big day there are a million things to do and remember, etc. and you are in a constant state of panic.  I highly recommend if you are able to, to totally hire more than just a day of planner!

All Together Now

Since Sheldon and I are from different states, it was just so special to finally have everyone we loved under one roof.  This was the first time a lot of relatives met either my parents or his and it was just the happiest time all together.  I thought I was going to feel so relieved when the big day was over, but honestly I was so sad and wanted to do it all over again.  What I wasn’t told is just how fast that day actually happens, so remember to embrace every single second of it!

A Floral Dream

We love love loved working with Blume Haus!  Flowers were one of our top priorities/wants because we both just love them so much, so we spent a lot of time working with them and discussing our vision and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.  Literally couldn’t have loved it more and they were so easy to work with even through our million different changes and questions that we had for them.  Couldn’t recommend them enough!!

So, can we talk about those flowers? We could have stared at the hanging floral arrangements over the head table all night, but there were so many other places to look, too! Between the vibrant colors, the smiles on everyones faces, and a packed dance floor it truly was a gorgeous night with fun had by all. Bria and Sheldon are a testament to the fact that things don’t always go as planned (no one wants to feel less than stellar on their big day!) but it will still be an absolutely amazing day. We loved that Bria pointed out the fact that she thought she would feel relieved after planning was over – we know it can be stressful! – but ultimately wanted to do it all over again. Our greatest hope for you on your big day is that it becomes a day you’d want to relive over and over because it was just that special.
