Love is Patient
Duane and I have contrasting personalities, but we find common ground in our interests. One thing we’ve learned is that we’re patient with each other. Whether it be from getting in situations we find ourselves in to actual deployments due to Duane’s career in the military we always find room to be patient with each other.
Why we Love COG
The Chandelier was just right in what we were looking for. I enjoyed that they had a chapel on site and the overall vibe was welcoming. The best part was how responsive the Chandelier was whenever we had any questions. Also, their list of vendors helped narrow the search down when wedding planning.
So Many Memorable Moments
There were so many memorable moments. From sharing a tear-filled moment with my mom, Duane and I having our first talk together after being declared man and wife, my father-daughter dance, everyone having a great time on the dance floor, and my private dance with Duane.
Quality over Quantity
You will notice on social media how other brides did their weddings and like me, you’re gonna have the idea that you need to match their ideas and the picture-perfect details. Don’t. Do your own thing. Some folks aren’t going to match your vibe either and that’s okay! Also, if you’re worried about how many people are going to show up and the actual turnout the day of, focus on quality over quantity. I didn’t meet my final count and that’s okay too! It’s more about who showed up for you and your spouse.
Adding Personal Touches
My favorite part in the planning process was creating all the signage. As a graphic designer, I got to put my skills to use whenever I was creating the Save the Dates, the invitations, and the programs. I even created a little logo I incorporated into everything, including the cake topper!
Our Wedding Our Way
I pretty much went against the norm with a good amount of things. Duane’s niece, Emily, served as the ring girl instead of having a ring bearer. Instead of flower girls, I had “flower dudes” and those two played their part perfectly! I am half-Filipino on my mother’s side so I incorporated elements of the Philippines into the wedding. I had most of my jewelry made with Filipino pearls and my ear cuff incorporates the sun from the Filipino flag. My mom also wore a traditional Filipino dress called a Maria Clara for the ceremony.
