You can take the girl out of the south, but you can’t take the south out of the girl! Read about all the sweet details and amazing vendors that brought this southern chic wedding to life!
The Love Story
I was born and raised in Louisiana, but after graduating from LSU in 2018, I took a job in Fort Meade, Maryland. After a year of being away from home, I was ready to move back south. It wasn’t until I met Tyler at a Christmas party in 2019 that I changed my mind and decided to stay in Maryland. I quickly realized that there was something special about this guy, and he was worth sticking around for. After dating for two years, Tyler proposed in May 2022 on a vacation in Turks & Caicos! It wasn’t long after the proposal that Tyler and I relocated to San Antonio for our careers. Once we settled in, we started planning our wedding in Texas.
Why They Chose The Chandelier
When Tyler and I moved to San Antonio, we knew we wanted to have our wedding in Texas Hill Country. It was a neutral location for both of our families to travel to, and you just can’t beat the charming southern hospitality! I found The Chandelier online and immediately fell in love with the beautiful white chapel. The Chandelier was the first venue we toured, and we both knew that it was the place we wanted to get married. We quickly jumped on the first available summer date, June 10th, 2023!
Most Memorable Moment
Walking down the aisle is something we both still talk about! It was the sweetest moment of the day. Tyler and I decided not to do a first look, so seeing his reaction as my father walked me down the aisle was my personal favorite moment. My family pastor that I have known since I was two years old officiated the ceremony, which also made the service very special and more personable. Ringing the wedding bell at the conclusion of the ceremony tied everything together, and made the ceremony our most memorable moment.
Their Best Advice
I think our wedding day was the fastest day of our lives! It felt like a year’s worth of planning just flew by within a few short hours. My advice would be to enjoy every minute of the wedding day and soak it all in, because it’s most likely the only time you will have all of your family and friends in one place for such a special moment of your lives. All the small details you are probably stressing won’t even matter once the day arrives. Your guests are genuinely there to celebrate with you and your spouse, so they won’t even notice those tiny, insignificant details.
Southern Chic Vision
Our vision was to have a chic Texas southern wedding, and I felt like our wedding was just what we imagined thanks to our amazing vendors. Our cocktail hour was a huge hit due to The Borracho Buros! Everyone loved Johnny and June! We wanted to incorporate something fun and unique, and The Borracho Buros brought so many smiles and laughs to our guests!
Additionally, it was so rewarding to see how everything came together for our reception. I found myself sneaking out of the bridal suite multiple times throughout the day just to see how everything was coming along, but never got to see the end result until the actual reception. When we made our grand entrance, I was so impressed with how everything turned out. The floral hanging boxes were beautiful, and the custom vinyl dance floor by Scarlet Rose Events really added a special touch to the venue. Lastly, Tyler made a custom boxwood wall for a photo booth. We rented an adorable pink sofa through Sue Bee Rentals and added a neon-sign to the wall for a complete look! The photo booth was popular the entire night, and Tyler and I enjoyed taking pictures and making memories with all of our friends and family.
All the Sweet Deets
Leading up to the wedding, I put a lot of thought into my “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, but some of those details changed the day of the wedding. The morning of the wedding my mother gave me my late maw maw’s handkerchief with blue embroidery, which unhesitatingly became my “something blue”. For my “something old and something new”, I chose to use my engagement ring, which Tyler designed using his late mother’s diamond and stones from her wedding ring and band. Those two sentimental items meant so much to me, and I was so happy to have a piece of their memory included on our wedding day.
Additionally, I cannot say enough wonderful things about our wedding photographer, Taylor Gevelinger! Taylor captured all those special moments, such as the ones above, and she was there to assist me with every detail and all of the unplanned miscues (in the middle of popping champagne with my bridesmaids, I broke my nail! I told myself next time I would get gel nail products. Taylor found some superglue and literally saved the day!) I don’t believe our wedding day would have gone as smoothly as it did without her help. I could not have asked for a better photographer to capture our special day!
Furthermore, June 10, 2023, was an unforgettable day for us! It’s been a month since our wedding, and we still find ourselves talking about how we wish we could go back and relive it one more time. The Chandelier is truly a special place to get married. The venue adds so many distinct details to a wedding, from the deer and fawns roaming under the tall oaks to the beautiful chandelier and cathedral ceiling of the reception hall. The Chandelier made our vision of a chic Texas southern wedding a reality. We wouldn’t pick any other place to say “I do”.
